muamua was an ambitious startup, based in London and New York City. It was essentially a search engine to enable consumers and businesses to find beauty stylists. The company already had a website, but it lacked identity and style. My first input was to refine existing brand elements, and set a new art direction. I wanted to create the feeling of a high-end fashion magazine; for the brand to be aspirational yet achievable.
I felt that it was essential for the site to be a joy to browse – a pleasurable way for people to spend their leisure time as well as a practical tool. On handheld devices, I designed the site to have the feel of a native app.
The search results page was core to the success of the site. It was vital that users could filter and clarify their results to find stylists suited to their exact, unique needs:
Every stylist on the site had their own customisable page, featuring a look book of their greatest work and the facility for users to connect directly with them.
In addition to the core functional pages, there was a section for marketing the brand to stylists, and a page to give users a quick overview explaining how the service works.Get in touch for my latest work
